It is used for peripheral cannula care, Octopus 1 has the following advantages:

-Eliminates the risk of access-associated needle-stick injury

-Keeps a closed system (no risk of blood reflux)

-Reduces the risk of cannula movement in the vein and thus the risk of mechanical phlebitis 

-Negates the need to use the cannula injection port (non disinfectable) while Bionector is easily disinfectable
